People have always pointed out to me that when I fall down, I always get back up again. I struggle, cry, stress about what I can do to fix my struggle. I end up sleeping it off and getting back up to fight harder than I did before. For example, the newest struggle, balancing the life of a special needs' mom, which entails doctor appointments, medication appointments, physical therapy appointments, intense family therapy, work, home schooling, with all the crap going on. Doing this shit alone is not easy. Of course, we are at the beginning of a new school year, which is hell for every parent, because of parent-teacher conferences, on top of everything else. New school, new teachers, not really sure if you should tell your child's new teacher what a blessing your child is, or look at them and say “Good luck. It's your turn. I'll see you at the end of the day.” You struggle, because there’s not enough time in the day to spend one-on-one family time: because of 6 hours of homework, an 8-hour shift at work, you have to make supper so the little “starving minions” don’t actually starve. By the end of the day, you just want to lay down in your bed, go get four hours of sleep, so you can get up and do it all over again. You do it, because that’s exactly what's expected of you. You get up each morning and do it because your family depends on you. You may hear “Mommy, he hit me!” “No, I didn’t, she’s lying!” before you even grab that first cup of coffee. You have to make sure they take a shower, brush their teeth, get their homework done, get their rooms clean, eat breakfast, get dressed, have their clothes on the right way, shoes are on the right feet, make sure they have their lunch, get them out the door, and make sure they make it to school on time. Maybe, if you're lucky, you might have two hours before you have to go fight with the school for truancy because of all the doctor appointments they have to have to make sure they are stable enough not to go into a frenzy and freak anybody out. Make sure they get to their doctor appointments on time. Make sure you're not forgetting any doctor appointments. You also need to make sure you're not forgetting any paperwork for the doctor-or worse, your sanity juice(coffee). Man, this shit is rough, and that’s only the beginning.
